For more than 25 years, I have dedicated my legal career to defending individuals charged with criminal, traffic, and OVI offenses throughout Central Ohio. As the founder of The Steven T. Fox Law Firm, LLC, I represent clients in municipal courts, mayor's courts, common pleas courts, and appellate courts throughout the region.
My practice focuses exclusively on criminal defense, traffic defense, and OVI/DUI cases. Over the course of my career I have represented thousands of individuals — from traffic violations and first-time misdemeanors to serious felony offenses carrying the possibility of lengthy prison sentences. Whether a client faces an OVI charge, a domestic violence allegation, an assault case, a drug offense, a probation violation, or a felony indictment, my approach remains the same: preparation, communication, and aggressive advocacy.
I understand that every case affects a real person and a real family. OVI and DUI Defense Experience
One of the primary focuses of my practice is defending individuals charged with OVI and DUI offenses.
I am among a relatively small number of Ohio criminal defense attorneys who have completed the same National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) training used to certify law enforcement officers in the administration of standardized field sobriety tests. That training provides valuable insight into how impaired-driving investigations are conducted, how field sobriety tests are administered, and where mistakes can occur during an investigation.
Throughout my career I have handled a wide variety of OVI cases, including first-time offenses, felony OVI charges, vehicular assault cases, administrative license suspension hearings, and cases involving breath, blood, and urine testing. I have also presented educational programs on OVI law and impaired-driving investigations for both attorneys and law enforcement personnel.
Professional Background
Prior to opening my own law practice, I served as a Senior Staff Attorney with the Franklin County Public Defender's Office, where I gained extensive courtroom and trial experience representing individuals charged with criminal offenses.
I later joined the Koffel Law Firm, one of Ohio's most recognized criminal defense firms, where I continued to focus on criminal and OVI defense. Those experiences helped shape the foundation of my practice and provided invaluable insight into Ohio's criminal justice system.
In 2014, I established The Steven T. Fox Law Firm, LLC with the goal of providing experienced, personalized criminal defense representation to individuals throughout Central Ohio.
Education
I earned my undergraduate degree from Wittenberg University and my Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law.
While attending law school, I was a member of Moot Court and competed in the National Appellate Advocacy Competition. I also clerked for Gallon & Takacs and served as a certified legal intern with the Lucas County Public Defender's Office, where I represented indigent defendants under attorney supervision. I am licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio and am a member of the Ohio State Bar Association.
Outside the Office
Away from the courtroom, I am a husband and a father of three. Over the years I have spent countless hours coaching youth sports and supporting my children's academic and athletic pursuits. I enjoy boating, fishing, following Ohio sports, and spending time with my family.
Those experiences keep me grounded and serve as a constant reminder that behind every criminal case is a person and a family whose future may be affected by the outcome.
